Upcoming work: The Last True Fan

I put into writing when I made this newsletter that I would never use it to ask people for money. Full disclosure, that’s kiiinda what 83M’s newsletter is for, haha, along with generally sharing news about our artistic exploits.

What are we working on right now, you ask? Well—a few years ago, I wrote a short film called The Last True Fan. I wrote the thing in that period of time when the Writers’ Guild of America was striking, AI was taking the news cycle by force, and I was still, for the most part, stuck indoors, wondering about the fate of my industry, and of human expression in general.

The Last True Fan went on to perform better in screenplay festivals than anything I’ve ever submitted, and Ryan and I made a decision: we wanted to transform this script from a blueprint into a film. I’m particularly excited for this project because, it being a film, anyone who supports it will have the chance to watch it and witness the team’s efforts. And speaking of the team! We’re working with a fabulous crew, and we’re thrilled to be kicking pre-production into a higher gear so we can shoot in Los Angeles this summer.
